photo-52It has been SO FUN to see the miles funnel in for the Summer Fitness Challenge: Mommy Needs to Move! As of a few minutes ago, we have logged a total of 283 miles! Wow, I am so proud of us! Every week I’ll be tracking our mileage on this coast to coast map, starting from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fracisco to the Statue of Liberty in New York! Let’s see how quickly we can make it across the US!

Thanks to all of you who have signed up already! There were a few days this week when I just didn’t feel like exercising, but I got my butt moving because you are all inspiring me. It is so much easier to make it a priority when I know others are in the trenches with me!

If you haven’t joined in the fun yet, PLEASE DO! This is for young, middle-aged, and older women alike! It’s not too late and we would love to have you. Click here to get on board!

A few housekeeping items:

-DailyMile has had a few bugs that I’ve been working out with them when it comes to logging your mileage. For a few days it was only logging runs instead of all activity. I am so sorry about this! According to their staff, it should be working properly now, and should have counted all your miles since the challenge began. If you are still having issues, please let me know so I can work on getting it fixed for you.

-While you are welcome to include all activity, in order for it to be recorded in the challenge log, it needs to be quantified in miles, so please remember to assign a mileage to your activity!

-If I haven’t had a chance to add you yet as a friend on DailyMile, please add me!

-DailyMile has space for you to leave comments and motivate each other. Let’s affirm each other’s workouts and spur one another on!

-Please share your photos as you’re out there moving! If you’re on Instagram, use the hashtag #mommyneedstomove

-As a reminder, Electric Miles is the smartphone app that allows you to log your miles from your mobile device. I’ve been using it and it works great and helps me to remember to get every mile counted!

-In addition to using Electric Miles, I use the Map My Run app to track my mileage. It uses a GPS to tell you how far you’ve gone along with what your pace is. I always run with my phone, so I start it up when I take off, and it’s a super easy way to keep track of how far I’ve gone.

Are there other apps that you find useful to help you stay active? Please share!

A LOOK AHEAD…

In the coming Wednesdays, we’ll be hearing from some inspirational women who will be sharing some tips and stories from their fitness journeys…I can hardly wait. Be sure to tune in…I know these women are going to encourage us all!

That does it for this week’s update! Again, THANK YOU for participating and motivating one another! Awesome work, ladies! Let’s log more miles this week than the last! Invite your friends, and KEEP MOVING!

You are beautiful!

I don’t have a smart phone, but the ‘app’ I LOVE is my Garmin watch. It tracks my pace, heart rate, calories burned, distance.
