I never want to forget these chill Saturday nights when we’re all home, ordering in food, watching a show together, making homemade dessert.

Tonight’s dessert was courtesy of a recipe Baylen found and wanted to try. Chocolate chip cookie dippers! 🍪 He’s on a baking kick lately and we had fun making them together. ☺️

One of my favorite emotions as a mom is when your kids figure out what activities they’re passionate about.

The last few years Emersyn has been our one who hadn’t really found “her thing” yet. She tried gymnastics, cheer, dance, a few other things here and there, and while she had fun doing them, they didn’t really light her up.

She had been reluctant to try other sports, but this year after we watched her play different things at home with Baylen and Case, we could see that she was a little athlete at heart. We told her she had to pick a sport to try this year, and she picked volleyball!

We started her in a non travel club team in the fall and it has been so neat to watch her learn and grow! They have been learning fundamentals at practice and today she had her first two matches! It was so fun to watch and she had a blast, and is already talking about how she wants to do travel next year.

Oh, and she just started basketball too! So proud of our girl for stepping out of her comfort zone!

Who knows if she’ll do these sports forever, but for right now it feels good to have her excited and watch her build confidence!

As parents it can feel a little overwhelming to help your kids find what they really love, and that balance of pushing them to do things and not being too pushy can be tricky. But today was a reminder that it’s so worth it to keep trying.

If you’re in a season of figuring it out like we were for one of your kids, hang in there and pray about it! God is so faithful at leading our kids where they need to go! ❤️

It was another busy and full weekend! First Case’s soccer tournament in Cape Coral, then Orlando to watch Mckinley’s gymnastics meet! It was even more special this time because we had Nana and Papa along on our adventures. 🥰 My dad finished treatment for lung cancer in January, and we are so thankful he was strong enough to visit from Iowa and attend the kids’ activities. God is good and what a blessing to have this time together! 🙏🏻❤️

I have a feeling 38 is going to be one of the sweetest years yet with our little family. We are busier than ever before with a 12 year old, two 10 year olds, and a 9 year old, constantly running them to activities they love. We’re definitely in a sweet spot of parenthood when we get to watch our kids grow into young adults and everyday is full of ordinary yet precious moments I want to remember forever.

I have a feeling one day I’d do anything to go back to this year when we celebrated my birthday with cookie cake upstairs and then snuggled up to watch an episode of Monk. These are the days. God is so good. 🙌🏻🥹🥳❤️

Find your WHY. I know so many of us start a new

Find your WHY.

I know so many of us start a new year with the best intentions. We want to get healthier, we want to workout consistently and eat less junk food. It feels so motivating that first week or so. But then oftentimes life happens. We get busy, or kids get sick, or we’re hit with stress that keeps us from getting after our goals.

If you were hoping to make more progress than you did in January, here’s my biggest piece of advice for making it happen in February. Give yourself a fresh start, and find your WHY.

When my motivation to get healthy is only to lose weight or drop pant sizes, I always fall off the bandwagon pretty quickly. But when I take the time to really think about WHY I want to get healthy, it becomes so much deeper and more meaningful. My momma bear tendencies kick in and there’s no quitting.

One of my many reasons is these girls. I want to be a solid example to them of how to make their health a priority. Especially now that they are in their pre-teen years, more than anything I don’t want them to struggle with self esteem like I did. I don’t want them to chase fad diets or only dial it in when they have an event or trip. I want them to know that working out and eating healthy is important because it’s a way we can honor God with our physical bodies. It’s a way we can become strong, disciplined, and effective for the work He calls us to do.

I also talk to them about how I take care of myself so that God willing I can be around for the long haul and be active with them for decades to come. There’s so much we can be doing now in our 20’s and 30’s and 40’s and 50’s that will be a blessing to our kids and grandkids years from now.

February is a new month. What’s your WHY? Don’t give up on you! I know it takes effort and a lot of hard work, but you can do it! Don’t do it alone though! A couple years ago, as I was getting into my upper

A couple years ago, as I was getting into my upper thirties, my metabolism started to slow down, and even though I was working out and eating pretty healthy, I had somehow gained 20 pounds. It crept on little by little, and I tried to ignore it, but one day I hit a low, and enough was enough.

I did some research about how our bodies change as we get closer to 40, and made a few changes. They made a huge difference and I started seeing results again. 3 months later, I was down 20 pounds and feeling so much better. 🥹🙌🏻

1. Instead of fasting in the morning, I ate a pre-workout meal. It turns out that intermittent fasting isn’t the best thing for those of us who may be entering the perimenopause stage soon! After menopause? Intermittent fasting is more effective again!

2. I increased my protein intake. We lose muscle mass as we age, and we need to eat extra protein to help our bodies continue to build new muscle!

3. I stopped doing lots of HIIT workouts and traded them for heavier lifting and cardio that’s more low impact - more time in zone 2, the “fat burning zone.” 🔥

4. I started walking every day. The truth is, so many of us simply aren’t getting enough “NEAT” in - “non exercise activity thermogenesis” - this is the energy we spend doing things that aren’t necessarily exercise but still burn calories! Walking is SO beneficial and when I really noticed a change happening.

5. I went back to an at home workout program that got me my very best results postpartum - it was a program that focuses on abs, butt, and legs and it was exactly what I needed!

6. I cut out the “BLT’s” - extra bites, licks, and tastes of random food that I didn’t really need! I had become such a snacker and it was hijacking me!

I’m passionate about helping moms feel their best and refusing to fall for the “oh just wait it gets so much harder as you age” story! Maybe that’s true, but you won’t catch me giving up and I hope you won’t either!

How it started! ➡️ How it’s going!

When I took the second picture this weekend at Case’s soccer tournament, I had one of those moments when I was like, “How are they this big already?!” 🥹

It seems like it was yesterday when I had 4 under 3. The most bittersweet thing about motherhood is watching your kids grow up. Every new stage is so beautiful and different, but always with the reminder that time is fleeting.

Even though life was absolutely chaotic when they were all little, at the same time there was a simplicity about it that was such a gift. The biggest problems I had to worry about were getting them on a nap time and bedtime schedule, changing their diapers, making food, cleaning up their messes, and eventually potty training. The physical work was intense and exhausting and nonstop for sure! But outside of that, our schedule was pretty free to do whatever we wanted.

Fast forward to today, and I absolutely love the stage we’re in, but MAN it is busy! Less physical work, but more emotional work. On Saturday morning we had to juggle four different activities at four different times, and we find that to kind of be the norm in this “pre-teen” season! Ubering our kids around to where they need to be is proving to be a full time job! 🤪🤣

And then yeah, this stage of parenting is heavier on the emotional side. More conversations with them about life, how to be good humans, how to be respectful when they don’t agree with what we have to say, how to navigate friendships, how to grow personally to become the people God created them to be, and the list goes on. Some new topic always seems to be popping up that leads us to have to teach another important “life lesson.” It’s wonderful and hard and fulfilling and terrifying all at the same time. 🥰🤪

Sitting here today reflecting on how faithful God is, and how thankful I am that He is with us every step of the way. Parenthood isn’t for the faint of heart. In fact it’s extremely humbling and a constant reminder that we cannot do it on our own. Thank you Lord, for all the seasons we get with our kids, and how it draws us closer to you. ❤️🙏🏻🙌🏻

Okay so what do you do when you’re in a funk and

Okay so what do you do when you’re in a funk and the last thing you feel like doing is working out?

Here’s my top hack: I talk myself into doing at least a five minute workout. Usually starting is the hardest part, so if I talk myself into five minutes, that gets me to at least get my workout clothes on and begin, and it doesn’t feel so overwhelming. But here’s why it works. After I do five minutes, my body is moving and I’m feeling more motivated! 99% of the time I end up working out for 30 - 60 minutes.

Action creates more action.

Playing tricks on your mind can be a huge help, because after all, our mind is the only thing holding us back most of the time!

Have you ever felt so desperate for a little more time to yourself, but you honestly don’t know how to make it happen?! 🙋🏼‍♀️

I swear there are just never enough hours in the day to get things done. In this season of motherhood, I find myself constantly feeling behind and trying to catch up on one thing or another. Between taking care of the kids, managing the family calendar, work, attempting to stay on top of the house and laundry, it feels impossible to juggle it all.

Throughout the years, when I’ve felt like this, there has been ONE simple solution that helps me more than anything else. It’s the magic that comes when I have a solid MORNING ROUTINE.

Before you write this off and keep scrolling, hear me out. I’m absolutely NOT a morning person by nature. I’m more of a night owl. Once the kids finally go to bed (which isn’t early anymore 🤪) I savor those quiet late night moments and end up staying up way too late, only to wake up exhausted, rushing to get the kids out the door to school and starting the cycle all over again the next day.

It’s not working for me, so it’s time to get back to a solid morning routine. The truth is, when I have an hour to myself before the kids are up, I’m a better person throughout the whole day. Instead of starting the day in a scramble, I start with a full cup, excited to serve my family.

Here’s my plan. Starting on February 5th, I’m going to start waking up one hour earlier than I normally do. I’m going to follow a morning routine that will include things like quiet time in the word, prayer, journaling, a cup of coffee uninterrupted 🙌🏻, and a workout!

For years I struggled with consistently working out. I wanted so badly to be one of those people who just automatically did it every day, but the only thing I was consistently good at was riding the struggle bus.

It was a vicious cycle defeat. I’d have a solid week of workouts, but then the next week would be a total flop. Then another good few days, then I’d fall off again, and find myself in the pantry emotionally eating a whole row of Oreos feeling sorry for myself.

I was always feeling guilty the minute I “messed up.” If I could go back and encourage myself back then, I’d tell her that I wasn’t failing at all. I was actually making progress, because that’s what the process of learning a new habit looks like. It’s messy. Trying, failing, trying again, each time building a little more discipline and becoming stronger.

I’d also tell her that God’s grace does not run out for her. His grace is new every morning, and when she leans on His strength instead of her own, that’s when she’ll find her confidence.

To any Christian ladies out there who are discouraged in this area of your life, keep up the hard work! God cares about your fitness journey, and He is going to help you figure this out. You will reach a point when your body craves movement every day, and it will become as much of a habit as brushing your teeth. The awesome part about bringing God into your journey is that you will think of Him each time you break a sweat, and the meaning of each workout will be that much deeper and more meaningful. ❤️🙏🏻

Calling all busy moms who want to get into a consistent workout routine, but you’re struggling to get going. You think about it all the time, deep down you know you can do it, but then it’s like there’s this roadblock that keeps stopping you.
